Topic: Father's Day [God as Father]
Title: FEARLESSLY CRYING - "Abba, Father"!
Truth Claim: Many kids never know their fathers; many know their fathers but never had a father; and still others have had fathers they'd rather not have known.
Only one child was born without the agency of a human father, yet he had the Father called "the Father of All."
Foundational Inquiry: What does it mean to have God as Father?
I. It means we have a welcoming Father! [Hebrews 4:16]
A. Under any circumstances! (omniscient)
B. For any reason! (omnipotent)
C. At any time! (omnipresent)
D. Forever! (immutable)
II. It means we have a worthy Father! [Revelation 4:11]
A. Of our respect!
B. Of our love!
C. Of our worship!
III. It means we have a wealthy Father! [1 Peter 1:3-5]
A. With abundant mercy!
B. For living hope!
C. With unfading inheritance!
D. And reserved in heaven!
Application/Challenge: Sadly, Father's Day doesn't always hold great joy for the men of our churches ... many are ambivalent! Yet we have a father who is near at all times, who is worthy to be praised, and who has eternity in His hand!
The kids are right, OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD!
