DEUTERONOMY - Seed Archive

Deuteronomy 2:3

"You have circled this mountain long enough. Now turn north . . . ."

TOPIC: New Year's [Courage; Discipline; Sanctification; Victory; Wisdom]

TITLE: HALTING THE VICIOUS CYCLE; Why a fresh start is desirable!

TRUTH: Occasionally, a tribe of God's people break free from the bondage of fear to serve the Lord; from time to time the children of God strike out for God's glory, causing something great to happen in the land of His enemies. This church, this people, this day can be such a tribe.

FOUNDATIONAL INQUIRY: What must we do to halt the cycle of fear gripping the church?

I. We must cross enemy lands!

II. We must not fear them!

III. We must be very discerning!

APPLICATION/CHALLENGE: We naturally want the security of the mountain, to avoid the enemy, to be nominal in our commitment.

If we fix our eyes on God, we will see Him at work in the midst of His enemies and will follow Him anywhere He leads, doing whatever He wants.

Deuteronomy 6:4-12

TOPIC: Family Values

TITLE: FAMILY VALUES - Essentials for a Solid Foundation!

FOUNDATIONAL INQUIRY: What are the essentials for a home with a solid foundation?

HYMN: How Firm A Foundation

I. THE CORNERSTONE: Commitment to God! [vv. 5-6]

II. THE FOOTING: Instruction of Children [vv. 7-9]

III. THE MATERIAL: Constant Thanksgiving [vv. 10-12]

APPLICATION/CHALLENGE: Older Christians might ignore this teaching because their children are gone from the home but I would remind them that they have a role to play in the lives of their adult children as they raise their grandchildren; they also have a role in the lives children everywhere as the Lord provides open doors.

Deuteronomy 13: 4

TOPIC: Sanctified life; Walk
TITLE:
WHAT GOD EXPECTS OF US!

TRUTH CLAIM: Here is another example of how what God expects of us can be condensed into 3 or 4 things ... and sometimes 1 or 2.

I. We shall follow Him
II. We shall fear Him
III. We shall obey Him
IV. We shall hear Him
V. We shall serve Him
VI. We shall depend upon Him
APPLICATION/CHALLENGE: Is that so hard? Yes it is ... but it can, in general, be done on a day-to-day basis.
If we take up our cross daily and follow Him, seeking first His Kingdom and His righteousness.
